After six days of a torturous divorce trial, super model Christie Brinkley gained full custody of her two children with ex-husband Peter Cook, son Jack, 13, and Sailor, 10.  In addition to the sole custody of their two children Christie will also assume ownership of their 18 properties that are located in the Hamptons.  Cook will be awarded “parenting time” and be paid $2.1 million by Brinkley.

Christie described the moment as “bittersweet” but also recognized the process as a death.

“It really is the death of a marriage, but it’s also I think a new start for all of us and I’m very pleased with the results today.”

In the beginning sole custody was all that Brinkley really wanted at all, so today’s victory was more than triumph in her eyes.

“I was here fighting for custody.  I think a mother’s greatest fear is somebody trying to take her children, trying to take custody of her children. That’s what I was up against. And so I’ve won custody and decision-making, and that’s really all I ever wanted.”

When asked about the decision to go to trial, Christie didn’t regret much of it.

“I really didn’t have a choice. I was trying to settle the day I learned about the absolute truth about the facts, and I wanted to settle but unfortunately we could not reach an agreement until 6 o’clock this morning.  We’ve had so little sleep we don’t even know we’ve had such little sleep.”

Peter Cook was much less recluse and only offered a simple statement as he rushed off to his car.

“I got everything I’ve been asking for two years.”
