Despite making a major career shfit from pop music over to country Jessica Simpson has always tried to use her celebrity status to help those in need.

Last night Jessica took the stage at the 5th Annual Nina’s Night Out benefit for the Rape Crisis Center.  The event was held at the Pearl night club inside of the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The event was to help those women who have suffered from sexual assault.

Talking about the event Jess said:

“I think this will be a more passionate performance than most. It’s important to make a stand for women’s rights. If I can get up there and be an inspiration to women, I am blessed to have that opportunity.

“The great thing about Nina’s Night Out is it’s a message of prevention. I think it’s important as a woman to lend a hand to other women and just try to encourage people that everything’s going to be OK.”

Another good thing that is on Jessica’s mind is her relationship with the Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo.  Jess and Tony have been dating each other and Jessica is apparently really “proud” of herself for snagging such a man!

“Tony is a great quarterback, but he’s a better boyfriend,” said Jessica.  “I’m seriously proud of myself for letting him into my life.”

It certainly seems like nothing but good has come out this relationship ever since Jess started to date the southern heart throb.  But Jess definitely gives Tony his kudos, saying that she’s probably a tough person to be in a relationship with!

“Through all the chaos and torment and everything I go through, I can lay in his arms and finally rest,” she added.

“To be my man, you have to put up with a lot,” said the singer. “I toot under the sheets, I spend a lot of money and I can belch the ABC’s.”

Lately Jess has been touring a lot to promote her first ever county album and her first single “Come On Over”.  The traveling might be grueling but Jessica sure is enjoying the success!

“I’ve been to 12 states in the past week,” she said. “I’m exhausted, but it’s worth it. I can’t believe I have the No. 1 album in country right now.”

Not only is the statistical success a rewarding one, but Jess says that it’s her fans that really make it all the more better.

“I’m extremely touched by the overwhelmingly positive response to the album.  There is so much honesty and raw emotion in there. And, I’m just thrilled that country fans are giving it a chance!”
