Recently moved back to the US, American actress Angelina Jolie was spotted making a promotional stop at the NBC Studios in New York City earlier today for a spot on The Today Show.

Her large family is always on the go flying from country to country and constantly uprooting, but Angelina said that she considers America their home.

“The children all have American passports and are American, too, but I also think that one of the best things about America is that we are a melting pot, a mix of many, many different races and nations.

All but three of her children are adopted (she recently gave birth to twins and has a biological daughter Shiloh) and they all know a lot about American culture, but Angie is making sure they don’t forget their heritage.

“My kids were born in different countries, in Asia, Africa, and Europe, and I expect them to learn about those places and to appreciate all other parts of the world, not just their own.  Yes, they have their own nationalities and are very proud of them, but that certainly doesn’t diminish the fact that they’re American. To me, that is what being American is.”

As far as adopting more children, Angelina hinted that they are already involved in another process.

“You can’t even start the process until any new children are six months old, to understand how the new family has settled.”

Angelina adopted her oldest son (and first child) Maddox who has since then become accustomed to welcoming new children into the family.

Six-year-old son Maddox is “the professional big brother” of the family because “he’s done it so many times.”

The rest of the children have also adapted very well to accepting more brothers and sisters at any given moment.

“We have so many children that they’re not really stunned anymore when kids come home. They’re all at that great age that they are not threatened. They’re independent. They don’t need Mommy and Daddy all the time.”

Right now Angelina and her family are constantly on the move but Angelina said that she recognizes when the children get older they’ll want to stay settled in a place where they’ll find friends.

“The children will probably dictate. We talk about one day, they’ll probably want to stay in one place for a very long time, as they start to get certain friends,” Jolie says, “So far we’ve just moved them a lot. They like packing their bags before the next adventure, and like making new friends wherever we go.

I think…we’d like to maintain that…we’d like them to be those kind of adults, where they can find home wherever they are in the world, where they can find friends wherever they are in the world.”

She’s never said much about her partner Brad Pitt but she can say this much….

“I met the right person,” she said of the 44-year-old actor. “I don’t like being without him.”
